The programme Enabling Capable Citizens (ECC) seeks to empower children and young people to become capable citizens in societies undergoing digital and green transitions.
Among the major challenges facing European societies now and in the future are climate change and the digitalization of society. Addressing these challenges requires citizens who are well-educated, critical thinkers, solution-oriented, and capable of making informed decisions.
The Villum Foundation supports activities in primary and secondary schools, as well as after-school activities, that equip children and young people with the skills needed to become capable citizens in society. We encourage children’s and young people’s motivation for education, particularly vocational education, ensuring they have the opportunity to acquire the skills needed in the future society. This includes life skills and general transversal skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving as well as skills related to the digital and green transitions.
In odd years, we finance projects in the Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, while in even years, we support projects in France and Italy.
