VELUX FOUNDATION
1981
The foundation was founded by Villum Kann Rasmussen. VELUX FOUNDATION contributes to a democratic and sustainable society through its four grant areas: Humanities and social sciences and culture, A sea in balance, Social initiatives, and Transitions and changes of adult life – individually and through interdisciplinary initiatives. The foundation strives to contribute positively to research and practice-based knowledge across the foundation’s grant areas, for the development of innovative collaborations, the strengthening of communities and for capacity building for groups, institutions and individuals.
VELUX STIFTUNG, Switzerland
1980
The foundation was established by V. Kann Rasmussen. Grant areas include research in healthy aging, daylight and people, daylight and nature, daylight technology and research into eye diseases – ophthalmology. Additionally, the foundation supports ecological stability and sustainability in nature with a special focus on forestry. The foundation supports high-quality research that can create a measurable change in science and/or society.
V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation, USA
1991
The foundation was established by descendants of V. Kann Rasmussen and primarily focuses on supporting projects within biodiversity, climate and sustainable production and consumption. The foundation focuses on international initiatives, primarily anchored in the USA.

The foundation was founded by Villum Foundation and VKR Holding A/S and supports employees of the VKR Group in various areas, primarily related to:
Accident or illness
Education of employees’ children
Philanthropic purposes in the geographic vicinity of VKR Group’s companies.
KR Foundation
2014
The foundation was established by Villum Foundation and descendants of V. Kann Rasmussen, and receives funds continuously from Villum Foundation. KR Foundation primarily supports international projects addressing the fundamental causes of climate and environmental changes. KR Foundation receives recurring annual transfers from Villum Foundation .
