Researchfish - Report on Your Project
The Villum Fonden requests grant recipients to use Researchfish for reporting their results to the foundation. This requirement applies solely to researchers who have received grants in the technical and natural sciences field, including Villum Young Investigator, Villum Investigator, Villum Experiment, Centres of Excellence, infrastructure projects, and research projects. Both private and public research foundations already utilize Researchfish.
What is Researchfish?
Researchfish is a reporting system originally developed in the United Kingdom for the English Research Councils. Today, it is widely used by a diverse range of research councils and foundations across various disciplines, both in the UK and internationally.
Why are we doing this?
The Villum Fonden uses Researchfish to gain a comprehensive overview of the outcomes of our support for technical and natural scientific research. This allows us to better track research activities and analyze and monitor the effectiveness of our programs.
It is essential for us to ease the administrative tasks for researchers, such as reporting, and Researchfish enables us to reuse data from year to year while reducing the requirements for written reports.
In recent years, there has been an increased interest in the efforts of private foundations. This prompts us to contribute to transparency regarding the results achieved through the foundation's grants. Several other Danish foundations also use Researchfish, including the Novo Nordisk Foundation, Lundbeck Foundation, and LEO Foundation.
What is your task?
Every year, when reporting on your research project, there are three elements to fulfill:
1. Submission to Researchfish
2. Send us a brief written report.
3. Send us a revised budget and accounts.
What do we use it for?
Researchfish provides us with access to data on the results of research, which will be used by the foundation's board and management.
The data will also be used in the ongoing monitoring of Villum Fonden's programs.
What is your responsibility as a grant recipient?
When you have received a grant from Villum Fonden, we ask you to annually report the results of your research. This includes publications, collaborators, outreach activities, patents, facility usage, etc.
Villum Fonden will automatically send you an invitation to Researchfish, allowing you to create and register in the system.
Find the template for the annual report here.
We recommend that you spend time familiarizing yourself with the system, for example through:
Webinars: Researchfish regularly hosts webinars, which can be booked via Researchfish, and they last for approximately 30 minutes.
Help videos: Search on Researchfish or on YouTube for instructional videos.
Assistance with the system is available by contacting Researchfish or Villum Fonden.
