Asset management
Our income comes partly from the operation of VKR Holding A/S and partly from securities.
The financial assets originate from the founder of the fund, from the returns on the assets, and from extraordinary distributions from VKR Holding A/S.
We invest in shares, bonds and alternative investments, including real estate, private equity, infrastructure etc., and the profits from the investments are used for philanthropic grants, covering operating expenses and consolidation. The investments are made by specialists within the individual investment areas. The specialists are selected according to their expertise and ability to create competitive and attractive returns.
Foreign investment and tax
Part of our investments is in foreign assets. These investments are subject to the applicable tax legislation in the respective countries, and any profits are taxed locally where the profit is earned.
We work diligently to ensure that partners and the companies we invest in comply with applicable tax regulations and international guidelines.
Boards set the framework
We operate according to the guidelines of the Danish Department of Civil Affairs and the specific permissions granted by the Department to both foundations.
In addition, it is the foundation’s board that sets the investment framework that the investment department operates within.
The investment department continuously proposes changes to the investment universe to the boards to ensure our investment strategy is up-to-date and follows developments in the financial markets.
Investment committee
We have established an investment committee to ensure that our funds are invested and managed optimally.
The committee monitors and evaluates ongoing asset management and ensures it follows the investment strategy and practices adopted by the boards. The committee also serves as a sparring partner for the foundation’s investment team when adjusting the strategy and making new investments in emerging areas.
Both the board and the daily management are represented on the investment committee, which also includes external and independent experts.
