Building-LCA of SCALES

The objective of the research project is to develop knowledge base and methods for environmental evaluation in a systems perspective, establishing multi-scale environmental information as a corner stone for decision-making in the building sector. This is an important area of research because the standard-driven LCA approach currently employed in the building sector face several methodological challenges, especially when it comes to the European policy agenda of a circular and bio-based economy. Expected significance: This research project will demonstrate a framework and method for multiobjective evaluation (environmental impacts and circular resource use) at different scales of decision-making. This will contribute to opening the field of environmental evaluations in the building sector from a product-scale to a wider system’s perspective.
