Ten experienced and renowned researchers were celebrated on 27 April. They each receive grants of up to DKK 40 million.

With presentations and speeches from, among others, the Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science, Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen, and VILLUM FONDEN’s Chair, Jens Kann-Rasmussen, a team of world-class researchers in fields within the technical and natural sciences were awarded the title of Villum Investigators.

The 10 researchers were selected from a pool of 72 impressive applicants, and are affiliated with universities across Denmark. The setting for the festive occasion was the VILLUM Window Collection.

Freedom to break new ground

The Villum Investigator programme was set up to give leading researchers time and space at a Danish research institution to explore new paths in their own field and achieve groundbreaking results. The six-year grants are awarded to active researchers who have demonstrated international, cutting-edge research of the highest scientific calibre for 10 years or longer.

This is the third time that grants have been allocated as part of the programme. The next grants will be awarded in 2023.
