Topological protection in electronic circuits (TOPEL)
Project description
The project aims at developing novel materials in the form of free-standing membranes consisting of sandwiches between high quality 2D semiconductors and superconducting metals and the platform will be employed for realizing complex superconducting components including multiple connected superconductors. The theory describing such electronic components has a remarkable analogy to the unrelated concepts of electronic band structure of real crystals. The topology of real band structures provide a powerful framework that dictates macroscopic and protected properties crystals. The end goal of the project is to explore the consequences of non-trivial topology of this pheudo-band structure for the quantization of electronic properties in superconducting components.
