Project description

Sustainable development relies on the constant operation of offshore energy infrastructures that operate in hostile environments, and their remoteness makes current structural health assessment schemes difficult. This project pioneers a rapid, cost-effective, and robust structural health monitoring and assessment system for a cluster of similar offshore structures. This is pursued by leveraging sensors data from a few fully instrumented structures of the cluster while marginal instrumentation in the remaining many structures of the cluster is needed to assess the health of any structure. Physics-based models with knowledge about structural behavior and machine learning models, using vibration sensors data, will develop a health monitoring and assessment system with minimal cost and data burden and well-identified robustness.
