NOWOS - Nonwoven Sodium-Ion Batteries

The NOWOS project aims to replace currently used granular electrodes in sodium-ion batteries (SIB) with a dense electrospun non-woven fabric. This approach will lead to wearable, self-healing batteries which are safe against thermal run-away and have an increased charging/discharging currents and longevity as compared to state-of-the-art SIBs. As sodium has a much higher abundance in nature than lithium, the development of high-performance SIBs with long lifetime and high capacity will contribute to making green transition more affordable and socio-economically acceptable.
