Additional support for Foyer and forecourt - Den Frie Udstillingsbygning
Project description
With this project, the iconic exhibition building Den Frie, designed by J.F. Willumsen in 1898, a new forecourt facing Oslo Plads and a completely renovated foyer that ensures equal access for all users. The exceptional old building will be opened up towards the square and the world outside and invite people into a very special architecture, which is a unique part of the Danish cultural heritage. The project has been underway for over 6 years and has been considerably expanded and increasingly architecturally refined in close dialogue with the conservation authorities and the Copenhagen Municipality. Due to the long process the original budget and the secured funding are unfortunately no longer sufficient. General price increase and inflation have resulted in a significantly more costly project. We also hope to have the opportunity to renovate the building's facade, which today appears rather miserable, and which will therefore degrade the project. We therefore must apply for additional support to complete the project.
