Anniversary book

VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN have always been conscious of the foundations’ and their founder’s stories, values and visions, which we can now present in the anniversary book ‘Windows make a difference’, written by Kurt Jacobsen, Dr. Phil and Professor at the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy, CBS. In the foundations, we strive to document our activities and projects and to express how we work and engage in close dialogue with applicants, employees and other stakeholders in the performance of our foundation work.
Since being founded in 1971 and 1981, the foundations have become more visible in society as their grant disbursement capacity has grown. The grant areas have been expanded, and more people and players in society are receiving grants for precisely the change of improvement or renewal that they are passionate about. Nevertheless, our way of working and our interest have always remained true to the ideas of our founder, Villum Kann Rasmussen, who established the VKR Group and coined the term ‘model company objective’. The reference to this is provided in the preface of the book:
“It is and has been important for us to translate the model company objective into a foundation-borne model value, even though business operations and foundation work are at first sight quite diverse in nature. We attempt this through dialogue with the society around us and by treating applicants, external experts, employees, partners and other stakeholders at least as well as the best of the other foundations do.”
We ally ourselves with people who want to improve society together with other people. This is precisely the focal point of this anniversary book.
We hope you will enjoy reading the book, which captures VILLUM FONDEN’s and VELUX FONDEN’s philanthropic journey for civil society.
