Syntese af avancerede organiske molekyler via asymmetrisk katalyse og C-H funktionalisering
Projektbeskrivelse
How to make advanced organic molecules in the most sustainable and direct way possible? The new concept C-H functionalization embodies the most direct and sustainable approach imaginable for constructing organic molecules. However, a large number of molecules can exist in two mirror-image forms and normal C-H functionalization produces a mixture of both forms. For many purposes, such as production of fine chemicals, food additives, functional materials, sensors, medicine, fragrances, etc., it is extremely important to have chemical synthesis methods that provides one mirror image in pure form. The fastest and greenest way to achieve this task is using asymmetric catalysis. Unfortunately, there are very few methods that combine C-H functionalization and asymmetric catalysis, despite the green potential of this synergistic combination. I propose a ground-breaking method that merges CH functionalization and asymmetric catalysis, thus achieving a huge leap toward the most direct and sustainable route imaginable to important advanced organic molecules.
