Projektbeskrivelse

The central quest for this research is to develop the (electro)chemistry needed to enable the conversion of the carbon dioxide and water resources available on Mars to valuable chemicals such as oxygen, rocket propellant, polymeric materials, and even pharmaceuticals for securing the chemical self-independency of the first Martian society. Renowned space agencies (NASA, ESA, and CNSA) and private corporations (SpaceX) have stated goals of bringing human beings to Mars, perhaps as soon as 2024-26. Thus, it has become pertinent to set a clear set of objectives for securing the chemical self-sufficiency of a Martian colony. In this respect, the most important consideration is the in-situ resource utilization to secure massive weight and cost saving for Mars missions.
