Welcome to the foundations

A dented cornflakes box from The Danish Food Bank, beautiful glass mosaics from Paris, several honorary medals, a 3D eyeball, books floor-to-ceiling....

These are all visible evidence and artifacts from a wide range of non-profit purposes supported by VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN.

The many elements are gathered in a new, bright, welcoming and informative welcome area at the foundations´address of Tobaksvejen 10 in Søborg. A sort of living museum that guests can study before joining a meeting.

Here you can continuously see a small selection of projects supported by the foundations and learn more about our affiliation, see the members of the two boards and read about the founder of the foundations and the history of the building.

Daylight and beautiful white crystals play a role as continuous graphic elements and form important features that connect the reception area at the ground floor with the exhibition area on the first floor.

The story of the building

The building at No. 10 Tobaksvejen – also known as T10 - was purpose-built in 1963 as the headquarters of the company V. Kann Rasmussen & Co. Behind the company was Villum Kann Rasmussen (1909-93), the founder of VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN – and inventor of the VELUX roof window.

Architect Dan Trier Fink (1908-1998), Villum Kann Rasmussen’s fellow student from Sorø Academy, designed the building.

Over time, T10 has housed administration, development and production departments for a number of the companies in the VKR Group, of which  VELUX and VELFAC are among the best known.

Today T10 houses the joint secretariat of the two foundations.
