VELUX FOUNDATION aims to support an empowered and meaningful adult life – throughout life – through activities that benefit the individual and communities.

People aged 60+ represent a significant societal resource. VELUX FOUNDATION aims to engage in partnerships with organisations that involve senior citizens in initiatives focusing on communities, sustainability and local cohesion.  The vision is to contribute to the power of action of volunteers aged 60+ for the benefit of society.

Small amounts that make a big difference
Grants cover a wide range of expenses associated with the activities, such as book publications or the purchase of useful assets (e.g. spinning bikes, rowboats, or tools).

Funding has been given to provide people aged 60+ with a new rowing boat, tools to a repairment workshop, and to build an observation post for bird watching.  Applicants can be individuals or groups of people aged 60+ performing community service activities.

Funding for large method development projects
The aim is to engage more people aged 60+ in an active life, by being more engaged in the local community and society. It may be necessary to develop methods, that support people aged 60+ to reach out and strengthen their voluntary engagement in society, which will also support the continued development of a democratic and sustainable society. The development of new methods is to strengthen the empowerment of people aged 60+, so they become the driving force behind activities in the future.
